Julie Kowald, Rapido Social Impact

Julie Kowald is a visual communication designer and digital artist and product designer  with over 20 years of experience working across video composition, interactive media, and emerging technologies. She holds a Bachelor of Visual Communication from Griffith University, a Diploma in eCommerce, and a Master’s degree from Macquarie University.

Beginning her career in Sydney in 3D broadcast design and special effects, Kowald developed a strong foundation in motion, storytelling, and visual systems. Her practice later expanded into innovation and new product development through her work with Canon Inc., where she explored advanced imaging technologies and both productivity and creative applications.

Across her career, Kowald has designed and delivered augmented and virtual reality experiences,  gesture-based interaction systems, and software tools and digital solutions for a broad range of industries including Health Care, Defence, Agriculture and Film Making. Her work sits at the intersection of art, technology, and human experience, combining technical rigour with a curiosity for how people engage with digital environments.
