Armin Awan
I am a Sydney-based filmmaker and visual storyteller with more than twenty years of experience working across health, education, community and documentary projects. What continues to inspire me is the privilege of being invited into people’s lives, and the chance to shape stories that deepen empathy and understanding.
Much of my work explores the emotional and relational aspects of everyday life – the ways we care for one another, the systems that shape us, and the quiet moments that often go unseen. Over the years I’ve collaborated with a wide range of individuals and organisations, from families and frontline workers to researchers and community advocates. These experiences have shaped a practice grounded in trust, curiosity and respect.
I’m particularly interested in storytelling as a form of social contribution – a way of opening space for reflection, dignity and connection. My approach is collaborative and people-centred, with an emphasis on authenticity and gentle attention to detail.
The film presented in this exhibition continues this exploration, reflecting on fatherhood, care and the evolving cultural expectations surrounding masculinity and family life.
